One of history’s greatest military commanders, Salahaddin’s real name was An-Nasir Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub. Born in 1137, he entered into the military when he was just 14 years old. He is known to have fought countless battles against the Crusaders. His crown jewel was the conquest of Jerusalem after the battle of Hattin in 1187, which had fallen to the Christian Crusade nearly 90 years ago. Despite being a famous warrior, he is known for his kindness and generosity. After conquering Jerusalem, most of the captured people were freed u der his rule, although he could have punished them for the crimes that were committed towards the Muslim Population by the Christian rule.
